Geometry Honors is an advanced course designed to develop geometric relationships and deductive strategies that can be used to solve a variety of real world and mathematical problems. Topics include, but are not limited to, structure of geometry, angle concepts, triangles, quadrilaterals, basic proofs, perpendicularity and parallelism in a coordinate plane, similar polygons, circles and spheres, properties of circles, and right triangle trigonometry.
Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.
Prerequisite: 'A' in Honors Algebra 1
This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.
Session 2A: 7/05/21 - 7/23/21 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit
Session 3A: 7/26/21 - 8/13/21 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit
6 weeks course
For full 1.00 credit the student MUST complete both 'A' sessions (6-weeks)
For 0.50 credit or audit the student may take first session only '2A' (first 3 weeks)
Meet Michael Jones+
Michael Jones has taught for American Heritage School's Upper School MathematicsDepartment for the past five years of his ten year career as an educator. He has taught for several summers in the American Heritage Summer Institute. Michael has taught many levels of mathematics, including Algebra 1 through Pre-Calculus. His other school activities have included supporting the nationally recognized Math Competition team in Geometry and Algebra 2 level preparation, and as an assistant lacrosse coach, working with athletes to better themselves on and off the field.
Meet Avi Spiller+
American Heritage teacher Avi Spiller is a 21 year veteran math teacher. Having taught and tutored the entire SAT and ACT for several years, he is pleased to have seen many of his students make incredible gains and even perfect scores. He has also taught and tutored all levels of mathematics including AP Calculus and AP Statistics.

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
