Course Description+

The purpose of this Economics Honors advanced course is to give students a thorough understanding of the principles of economics that apply to our economic system as a whole. This course places an emphasis on the study of the basic economic concepts. It is the study of how individuals in our society seek to satisfy their needs and unlimited wants of goods and services by making choices which efficiently use society’s scarce resources. Once a student understands these basic concepts, the study of Macroeconomics expands to include economic growth, inflation, employment, monetary and fiscal policies, supply and demand, and the measurement of economic performance with the emphasis on national income accounting practices.

Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.

This 3-week semester course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Session 3A: 7/13/20 - 7/31/20 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) – 0.50 credit

Meet Barbara Asher+

Barbara Asher is an experienced teacher who graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master’s in Applied Psychology. She has been teaching at American Heritage School for 19 years. In that time she has had several leadership positions, including club advisor, yearbook advisor, department chair and senior advisor. She is also proud to have taught 5 different AP courses with a passing rate of approximately 90%.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll. A specific teacher is not guaranteed. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording. Students must be age appropriate for the course. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to check with their child’s school when seeking credit for a course.
