Course Description+

Art Camp provides an exploration of a variety of visual arts media to develop campers' creativity and individuality. These young artists will be wire sculpting, painting, weaving, creating unique jewelry, drawing, pottery making, constructing mosaics, and creating weekly multicultural projects. Campers will have an hour free period choice each day and will also participate in all special events that are on campus. A healthy lunch, snack, popsicle, and daily swim are included in this co-ed program. Each week will be a different theme and have different projects. Although our specialty camps have a range of different aged campers all campers are grouped with other campers closest to their age. Our energetic and fully-trained staff are carefully selected based on experience, character, and leadership. Every staff member is background checked, as we continue to maintain the highest level of safety and security on campus.

Meet Mary Ellen Defino+

Mary Ellen Defino is an Art Educator. She has a Bachelors of Arts in Education, and a minor in primary Education. She has taught lower and middle school Art for 12 years and is in her 3rd year teaching at AHS. Her art students participated and have won several First place awards in local art shows. She has two girls, both are seniors at AHP. In her free time, Ms. Defino enjoys spending time with family in the Georgia mountains, gardening, and home design. Ms. Defino finds her joy in helping her students explore their creative side, using all types of art media while building their self confidence and love for art. Her goals are to see both children and adults light up when they discover their hidden talents, and just how much fun art can be!
