Course Description+

This invite-only program offered to American Heritage students is carefully crafted to avoid summer learning loss and ensure our students remain prepared for the upcoming school year. This evidence-based and research-supported remediation program taught by certified specialists will provide intensive intervention through a multi-sensory approach. Students will reinforce skills and acquire new knowledge to become skilled readers and mathematicians. Students are taught content and complete activities that provide mastery-oriented practice of the critical skills needed to become overall proficient students. This is an in-person class only.

Meet Christina Moawad+

Christina Moawad has her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Montclair State University and her Master's Degree in Library Science from William Paterson University. She has taught Reading and Language Arts for two years and has been the librarian for seven years. This is her second year at American Heritage Schools. In our after school enrichment program, Ms. Moawad teaches a yoga class after school.

Meet Andrea Croke+

Andrea Croke has worked at American Heritage Schools for four years and is currently teaching 5th Grade Reading and Writing. She has an Elementary Education Certificate (K-6) and a Master's in Elementary Education. Mrs. Croke is trained in IMSE Intermediate Orton-Gillingham methodology, which is designed to reinforce and develop reading skills.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
