Course Description+
This enrichment program is for students looking for an advanced curriculum as they prepare to soar into second grade. Through differentiated instruction, teachers bring each individual learner to the next level. The focus is on increased academic and content specific vocabulary through advanced literature and informational texts while building critical thinking skills. Our young, advanced mathematicians will continue to build their skills through making connections, problem solving, reasoning, mental mathematics, and estimation on a higher level. This enrichment program also includes time each day for students to participate in fun outside activities led by the teacher and teacher's assistant. This is an all day program.

Session 1A: 6/12/23 - 6/30/23 (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) (EST)
Session 2A: 7/03/23 - 7/21/23 (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) (EST) - closed 7/04/23
Session 3A: 7/24/23 - 8/11/23 (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) (EST)
Each session is unique, so your child will benefit from taking more than one session.
Meet Carrie May+
Carrie May has been teaching elementary school for more than 10 years, with 6 years of experience at American Heritage School. She earned her BA in Education from the University of Florida where she spent 3 years teaching 5th grade at UF's developmental laboratory school, PK Yonge
Meet Dolores Mayer+
Dolores Mayer is an experienced elementary school teacher with 30 years of experience. She has been teaching at American Heritage School for 15 years. Throughout her teaching career she has taught Pre-K, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. The past 3 years, she has taught 1st and 2nd grade students at American Heritage Summer Institute. Dolores graduated with Honors from the University of Florida and loves teaching and interacting with her students!
Additional Course Information+
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
