Students will receive an introduction to public speaking by learning research, writing, and speaking techniques designed to make them successful communicators and give them a foundation for competitive Speech & Debate. The course is taught by nationally recognized speech and debate coaches.
This 3-week semester course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.
Bo Lint earned his Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of West Florida. A former competitor himself, Bo is now the Director of Speech and Debate at American Heritage School. Bo teaches the middle school and high school courses at both the introductory and advanced levels. Bo’s students have reached elimination rounds or championed tournaments such as Yale, Florida Blue Key, the Glenbrooks, George Mason, Harvard, NCFL Nationals, and the NSDA National Tournament. He specializes in Congressional Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Original Oratory.
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll. A specific teacher is not guaranteed. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording. Students must be age appropriate for the course. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to check with their child’s school when seeking credit for a course.
