Course Description+

Junior Geographers is a 3-week enrichment course that provides an introductory overview of geographic concepts, themes, and elements designed to help students better understand and analyze the United States of America from a geographic perspective. The course will provide a hands-on approach to Earth’s physical and human elements with a focus on the unique characteristics of the United States. 

Session dates:
Session 1A: 6/13/22 - 7/01/22 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST)
Session 2A: 7/05/22 - 7/22/22 (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) (EST) - Palm Beach Campus or Online

Meet Sherrie Roisman+

Sherrie Roisman has been a social studies instructor at American Heritage School for 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Florida Atlantic University. She currently teaches Honors World Geography and AP Human Geography in addition to her duties as the Co-Chair of the Social Studies Department. As an AP teacher, Sherrie has a cumulative 98% pass rate for the AP Human Exam and her students consistently average 4.6 and above on the exam.

Meet Christian Williamson+

Christian Williamson is currently a middle school faculty member at American Heritage Schools, Palm Beach Campus, teaching sixth grade Ancient Civilizations and seventh grade U.S. History. He received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Anthropology and is finishing his PhD in Anthropology at Syracuse University. He has been teaching at American Heritage for the past two years, and has taught discussion and laboratory sections at Louisiana State University, Syracuse University, and Hunter College.

Meet Monica Del Rosario+

Monica Del Rosario has a degree from Florida International University and has over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages. She currently teaches English and Social Studies courses at the Middle School level. Ms. Del Rosario also teaches the Middle School Leadership elective, as well as acts as the Middle School Student Government Co-Advisor and is a member of the Ed Tech team. Ms. Del Rosario's passion for education comes from helping students accomplish their learning goals. She is an advocate for using various forms of technology in the classroom and encourages students to find and use their strengths in all facets of their educational careers.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
