World Geography Honors is an advanced course in the study of where people, places, and things are located and how they relate to each other. Emphasis is placed on helping the student develop a concern for international affairs and an individual responsibility as a member of the global community. This course examines Physical Geography–mountains, oceans, and climate, along with Human Geography–cultures and peoples, throughout different regions of the world.
Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.
This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.
Session 2A: 6/22/20 - 7/10/20 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) – 0.50 credit
Session 3A: 7/13/20 - 7/31/20 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) – 0.50 credit
6 weeks course
For full 1.00 credit the student MUST complete both “A” sessions (6-weeks)
For 0.50 credit or audit the student may take first session only “2A” (first 3 weeks)
Meet Sherrie Roisman+
Sherrie Roisman has been a social studies instructor at American Heritage School for 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Florida Atlantic University. She currently teaches Honors World Geography and AP Human Geography in addition to her duties as the Co-Chair of the Social Studies Department. As an AP teacher, Sherrie has a cumulative 98% pass rate for the AP Human Exam and her students consistently average 4.6 and above on the exam.
Additional Course Information+
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll. A specific teacher is not guaranteed. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording. Students must be age appropriate for the course. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to check with their child’s school when seeking credit for a course.
