Fashion Design is an introduction to design thinking, expression, and construction of fashion design. A variety of techniques will be introduced to aid you in developing a language to communicate your ideas two- dimensionally and three-dimensionally. Students will learn how to read a pattern, use a sewing machine, and design and construct their own designs. There will be an equal focus on both the physical and conceptual aspects of each project. Slide presentation videos, gallery visits, visiting artist lectures will help familiarize you with contemporary sculpture. There will be an emphasis on learning how to talk about your artwork through group critique and classroom interaction. Students need to provide their own sewing machine.
Prerequisite: Visual Concepts.
