Honors World History is an advanced course organized around the basic themes of history, allowing the student to see the past and ask questions regarding the future. These basic themes of history within this text are politics and history, the role of ideas, economics and history, social life, the importance of cultural development, religion in history, the role of the individual, the impact of science and technology, and the environment and history. This course is designed around the idea of the student taking an active, analytical, and critical thinking approach to the study of world history.

Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.

This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Session 1B: 6/10/24 - 6/28/24 (12:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit
Session 2B: 7/01/24 - 7/19/24 (12:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit - Closed 7/04/24

6 weeks course

For full 1.00 credit the student MUST complete both 'A' sessions (6-weeks)
For 0.50 credit or audit the student may take first session only '1A' (first 3 weeks)

Meet Marissa Rothbaum+

American Heritage teacher, Marissa Rothbaum, earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Social Science Education from the University of Central Florida. Throughout her teaching career, she has taught World History, Geography, American History, and American Government to students in high school. She also helped to introduce and integrate National History Day projects into the curriculum for her World History students. She is proud of her students who have gone on to compete at the county and state levels.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
