Algebra 2 Honors is an advanced course designed to continue the study of the structure of algebra and geometry to provide the foundation for application of the skills to other mathematical and scientific fields. Topics include, but are not limited to, structure and properties of the complex number system, relations, functions and their graphs, polynomials and rational expressions, quadratic equations and inequalities, functions, rational and irrational exponents, logarithms, and trigonometry.
Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.
Prerequisite: “A” in Honors Geometry
This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.
Michael Jones has taught for American Heritage School’s Upper School Mathematics. Department for the past five years of his ten year career as an educator. He has taught for several summers in the American Heritage Summer Institute. Michael has taught many levels of mathematics, including Algebra 1 through Pre-Calculus. His other school activities have included supporting the nationally recognized Math Competition team in Geometry and Algebra 2 level preparation, and as an assistant lacrosse coach, working with athletes to better themselves on and off the field.
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll. A specific teacher is not guaranteed. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording. Students must be age appropriate for the course. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to check with their child’s school when seeking credit for a course.
