Physics Bridge Honors is an advanced course that provides a systematic development of the main principles of physics emphasizing problem solving and helping students develop an understanding of physics concepts. It is assumed that students are familiar with algebra and trigonometry. This course provides a foundation in physics for students in the life sciences, pre-medicine, and some applied sciences, as well as other fields not directly related to science. Topics will include kinematics, dynamics, energy, work, power, heat and thermodynamics, wave characteristics, light, electricity, magnetism, and nuclear physics.

Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.

Prerequisite: Entering AP or Honors Physics

This 3-week course is offered for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future.

Meet Fazileta Yusuf-Clarke+

Mrs. Yusuf-Clarke graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics & Chemistry from the University of the West Indies. She also has a Masters in Education from Georgia Southern university. Currently teaching Physics Honors and AP Physics 1 at AHS. She has taught Physics for over 20 years in Barbados, Cayman Islands and Florida. Her teaching methods include inquiry based learning through experiments and cooperative learning that is student centered. Her goal is to provide a learning environment that promotes critical thinking and collaboration.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
