Physics Honors is an advanced course that provides a systematic development of the main principles of physics emphasizing problem solving and helping students develop an understanding of physics concepts. It is assumed that students are familiar with algebra and trigonometry. This course provides a foundation in physics for students in the life sciences, pre-medicine, and some applied sciences, as well as other fields not directly related to science. Topics will include kinematics, dynamics, energy, work, power, heat and thermodynamics, wave characteristics, light, electricity, magnetism, and nuclear physics.
Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.
Prerequisite: 'A' in previous honors level science classes, completion of Honors Algebra 2.
This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Meet Silvina Peiretti+
Silvina Peiretti holds a Master of Science degree in Electronic Engineering. Teaching physics and calculus is her passion, and she feels incredibly blessed to be able to pursue this passion at American Heritage School. Through her classes, Silvina emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving while fostering independence and encouraging her students to take ownership of their learning process. Her students have consistently doubled the national average passing rates for AP Exams and tripled the percentage of 5s.
Meet Charles Huber+
Charles Huber was an aerospace engineer for the Department of Defense for 35 years. He retired in 2016 to become a teacher because he wants to inspire young adults to make the world a better place. He was a certified Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University professor teaching college dual enrollment engineering and physics classes to high school students, and, in 2017, he was selected Palm Beach County Beginning Teacher of the Year. Charles brought his considerable talents and experience to the American Heritage School family in 2019.
