This program is for children entering kindergarten that aims at mastery of phonological awareness, rhyming patterns, reading skills, sentence structure, calendar activities, visual patterning, and computational skills. Students participate in group activities and individual customized exercises to strengthen areas of weakness. Students working at an advanced level are given enrichment activities to allow progression at a faster pace.
Randi Licht is a 23 year veteran National Board Certified elementary school teacher. She has a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She has enjoyed teaching Pre-K for the past 12 years. Randi helped design, create, and teach the American Heritage Summer Institute’s "Keys to Kindergarten" program. Having attended summer camp as a child and worked at a summer camp or summer school most of her adult life, Randi knows the secret to her students’ success is consistent learning throughout the summer.
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll. A specific teacher is not guaranteed. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording. Students must be age appropriate for the course. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to check with their child’s school when seeking credit for a course.
