Calculus Honors is an advanced course designed to teach students a strong understanding of the fundamental concepts and skills of calculus. Topics include, but are not limited to, functions, limits and continuity, derivatives, applications of the derivative, antiderivatives, definite integrals, applications of the integral, and indeterminate forms. This course is designed to prepare students for AP Calculus AB.
Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.
Prerequisite: “A” in Honors Pre-Calculus
This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.
Derek Rampal has 5 years of experience teaching full-time at the college level where he has taught courses from adding and subtracting to differential equations and algebraic structures. He feels lucky to teach and coach the Math Competition Team at American Heritage School as they have enjoyed a great deal of success. Currently, Derek teaches AP Calculus, AP Physics C – Electricity and Magnetism, Multivariate Calculus, Differential Equations, and Precalculus Honors for Math Competition.
A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll. A specific teacher is not guaranteed. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording. Students must be age appropriate for the course. Young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. It is the parent’s responsibility to check with their child’s school when seeking credit for a course.
