Course Description+

Algebra 2 Honors is an advanced course designed to continue the study of the structure of algebra and geometry to provide the foundation for application of the skills to other mathematical and scientific fields. Topics include, but are not limited to, structure and properties of the complex number system, relations, functions and their graphs, polynomials and rational expressions, quadratic equations and inequalities, functions, rational and irrational exponents, logarithms, and trigonometry.

Honors level classes can expect more rigorous requirements for assignments and assessments.

Prerequisite: 'A' in Honors Geometry

This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Session 2B: 7/01/24 - 7/19/24 (12:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit - Closed 7/04/24 - In Person Palm Beach or Online 
Session 3B: 7/22/24 - 8/09/24 (12:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit - In Person Palm Beach or Online

6 weeks course

For full 1.00 credit the student MUST complete both 'B' sessions (6-weeks)
For 0.50 credit or audit the student may take first session only '1B' (first 3 weeks)

Meet Zachary Carfagno+

Zachary Carfagno has been teaching math at American Heritage School for ten years. He is a Co-chair of the Math Department and one of the coaches of our nationally recognized Math Competition Team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and has lived in South Florida for 25 years.

Meet Juan Ysimura+

Mr. Ysimura is in his first year teaching math at American Heritage School but has taught math for more than six years. He is currently the AP precalculus and calculus teacher and one of the coaches of our nationally recognized Math Competition Team. Mr. Ysimura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Arts degree in Computational Applied Mathematics from The Stony Brook University.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times. Requirements for AHS Students; Students must currently be in 9th grade or higher and recommended for Algebra 2 Honors and earned at least an A- for the 1st semester.
