Course Description+

The Analysis of Functions course combines algebraic and geometric concepts and presents mathematical topics in a logical sequence. The course emphasizes problem solving through applications that integrate various topics of algebra skills. Topics include: graphs of functions and relations, inverse functions, rations and radical expressions, linear quadratic and rational functions, absolute value, properties of graphs of exponential and logarithmic functions and applications. This course also teaches students how to take mulitple choice tests.

Prerequisite: Algebra 2 - must be a senior

This 6-week course is offered for first time credit, for credit grade replacement, or for non-credit enrichment in preparation for taking the course in the future. Please check with your school regarding credit from outside institutions.

Session 1A: 6/10/24 - 6/28/24 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit
Session 2A: 7/01/24 - 7/19/24 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit - Closed 7/04/24

6 weeks course

For full 1.00 credit the student MUST complete both 'A' sessions (6-weeks)
For 0.50 credit or audit the student may take first session only '1A' (first 3 weeks)

Meet Alen Vartan+

Alen Vartan is an upper school math teacher at American Heritage. He's been teaching math to grades seven through twelve since 2001. He's earned a Bachelors of Arts in Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Masters in Administration and Supervision in Education from University of Phoenix. He also is an experienced wrestling coach and a veteran. He was hired to teach Geometry at American Heritage in 2003; since then, he has taught students mathematical topics such as: pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus and money management.

Meet Evora Alvarez-Deily+

Evora S Deily is an experienced high school math teacher. She holds a BA in Business Management with a Professional Teacher Certification in Math and ESE (Exceptional Student Education). She has been in education for 14 years. Evora has been part of the American Heritage family for 5 years.

Additional Course Information+

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
