Course Description+

This one-week course will introduce students who have completed one year of Honors Biology with the skills and techniques required to write cogent, directed essay responses for the College Board AP Biology essay exam. In addition to helping improve AP scores to enable students to skip entry level college Biology courses, this course will provide a life skill of scientific writing that will help students throughout their careers. They will be trained to read and analyze data, make claims, report their findings, and justify their arguments while writing about scientific ideas.

Prerequisites: Honors Biology with a grade of A- or higher or specific recommendation of the teacher of this course

This is a non-credit 1-week course

Meet Corrine Fishman+

 

Corrine Fishman, the Upper School Science Department Chair for the Palm Beach Campus, has been teaching Biology Honors at American Heritage School for four years, assisting in Scientific Research for two years, and teaching AP Biology for one year. She has prior experience teaching AICE Marine Biology as well. She holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College with a published Honors Thesis in Environmental Studies and holds a M.S. degree in Biology from Florida Atlantic University with a published Thesis in the field of Marine Biology.

A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
